Esquire was first established in October 1933. The magazine was founded by David A. Smart and Arnold Gingrich. But, not long after that, it also received assistance from Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald. The magazine used to have many famous writers like Norman Mailer, Tim O’Brien, John Sack, Gay Talese, Tom Wolfe and Terry Southern. In 1977, the magazine was sold to Clay Felker. Then, in 1986 the magazine sold to Hearst again.
